Seattle Sounders manager Sigi Schmid has claimed that the club are still looking to strengthen the team with the addition of a couple of players like a defender and the midfielder. Recent rumours suggest that the club could be in for a new striker and the manager has not dismissed those suggestions. He has claimed that the club has been made aware about a striker, who could be available. Seattle Sounders have made a strong start to the season and sit top of the table with just one defeat in the last five matches.
This amazing run of form has helped them open a two-point advantage over the likes of the Real Salt Lake. Even though they have played one more match than Real Salt Lake, it is considered as Seattle Sounders’ title to lose this campaign. Despite this, the team is not without its problems. They could especially do with strengthening in the midfield and defence. Schmid has even gone as far as suggesting that a striker would also be a welcome addition to the squad. It is looking like a battle between Real Salt Lake and Seattle Sounders at the top of the Western Conference table.
Both teams have been in imperious form over the last five matches. “We’re always looking. If it’s the right fit, we feel like it makes sense, it’s something that [the front office] will look at. So it’s not something that we feel is a must-have, that if we don’t do it, oh, geez, we’re going to be in big trouble. He’s one of those guys where you have to see. Is this the right time? Is he out of contract? OK, is it maybe a situation that we need to address now, or do we wait until the winter?” said Schmid about Costa Rican Jose Miguel Cubero.
