Atlanta United president dismisses Miguel Almiron transfer link

Atlanta United president Darren Eales has dismissed the ongoing speculation linking Miguel Almiron with a winter move to Arsenal. A recent report suggested that the Gunners had reached an agreement for the Paraguayan attacker and he would seal a winter move to the Emirates Stadium for an initial fee of around £11m.

However, speaking to Game Radio, Eales has rubbished those claims by citing that the speculation was total nonsense. He added that his name was even misquoted in the report whilst it would take at least thrice of the sum mentioned for the club to part ways with their leading attacker, he said: “So there were two clues as to why that was total nonsense, one was Eagles, not Eales. And the other was the suggestion of £11m because it would have to take at least triple that for me to even get out of bed and think about any bids for Almiron. So everyone knew, as soon as they saw that figure, that it was a load of rubbish.”

The 24-year-old has taken his game to the next level with Atlanta United during the ongoing campaign having contributed 12 goals and 11 assists from 32 league appearances. As such, he has been earmarked as a potential replacement for Aaron Ramsey at the Emirates with the Welshman having just nine months remaining on his Gunners contract.

The Wales international has been a regular for the north London giants over the years but the board has supposedly broken down contract talks with him after an extended contract standoff which lasted for nearly 12 months. At present, Ramsey is said to have no plans of parting ways with the Gunners in January but he could still sign a pre-contract with an overseas club with Juventus and AC Milan in the running.
