Major League Soccer club Orlando City have reportedly hit back at the decision to give Kaka a red card after his playful interaction with his former teammate.
The Brazil international received only his second red card of his career during the 3-1 defeat to New York Red Bulls after he grabbed the face and neck of Aurelian Collin who previously played for Orlando.
The duo were in jovial mood immediately, however, after consulting the league’s new video referral system, referee Jorge Gonzalez deemed the veteran’s actions to be worthy of a sending off. As a result, Kaka will miss at least one game and Orlando announced on Monday that they would not appeal against the red card although they disagree with the decision.
A club statement said: “After much deliberation, which included conversations about the global attention this incident is receiving from fans and media alike, the club will respect the decision made by the Video Assistant Referee, the Professional Referee Organization and Major League Soccer to avoid further unjustified consequences that may come from appealing the decision made on the field. Moreover, we also do not believe he deliberately ‘struck’ an opponent or any other person on the head or face with his hand or arm during the match. The captain will accept the one-game suspension and help our club and fans focus on the next task” Continue reading Orlando City unlikely to appeal Kaka’s playful red card

Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy has appointed Curt Onalfo as their new coach.
He will be replacing Bruce Arena that has left LA Galaxy to take charge of the United States national selection. Curt Onalfo has previously worked with D.C. and Kansas City and will be looking forward to the challenge of managing a side that has been so successful under Bruce Arena.
Curt Onalfo has worked with Bruce Arena in the past as an assistant and left to coach LA Galaxy II which is the equivalent of the reserve team. He has been quite successful with the reserve team, and this has prompted LA Galaxy to appoint him as their new coach.
Curt Onalfo also has good experience of international football as he has been an assistant to Bruce Arena when the latter was in charge of the United States national team from 2003 to 2007. Given that he is familiar with Arena’s methods, players and fans should not expect too much change in the playing style of the team when the season begins. Continue reading LA Galaxy name new coach
Bastian Schweinsteiger is no longer a squad member at Manchester United after being forced to do train on his own by manager Jose Mourinho.
It has been viewed as very poor treatment of the player who has won numerous titles including the World Cup. Regarded as one of the finest midfielders of this generation, Schweinsteiger will find no shortage of interested clubs even though he is over 30. One of the potential destinations would be the MLS and the player himself has confirmed that the same. Only recently, he stated that United would be his last club in European football irrespective of Mourinho’s decision.
The Portuguese responded by claiming that Schweinsteiger was wasting his time by thinking that he would be recalled to the United first-team squad and given numerous first-team opportunities this season. Mourinho stated that he is more than happy to work with only 23 outfield players, thus leaving Schweinsteiger with little opportunity to return to the first-team selection. After spending the next six months at United, it is widely believed that Schweinsteiger will look for options elsewhere. The January transfer window will also coincide with the start of the new MLS season. The 32-year-old confirmed that he will not rule out the possibility of joining an MLS team.

There have been increasing rumours in recent weeks that Seattle Sounders could be losing their star asset in the form of Clint Dempsey.
The former Fulham and Tottenham midfielder has reportedly been eyeing an exit, but those connected with Seattle Sounders have been quick to deny the rumours. Club captain Brad Evans has also been quick to dispel any solution that Dempsey is looking for a move. The rumours could not have come at a much worse time for the Seattle Sounders, as they are struggling to make a real impact in the 2016 MLS season.
The club were expected to be challengers for the title, but they look like they could even miss out on the play-off places if the poor form continues. After having managed just one win in the last five games, the club are ninth in the table and a whopping 10 points behind the Vancouver Whitecaps who occupy the final play-off spot. Even though Vancouver Whitecaps have played two more games than Seattle Sounders, they are definitely in a tight spot. Evans says that the team has been trying to push on in the hope of improved form. They are not being distracted by such rumours, according to the captain.
